April, Jorge & Diego arrived Thursday night for Mother’s Day weekend.
The 3 of them golfed 18 holes on Friday. What a gorgeous day on the coast for golf. We all got overly warm in the 82 degree weather.
Don and I joined the golf trio for dinner, which was a treat. Then we all headed to Cannon Beach for a 7:30 pm play at the Coaster Theater. Don maintained well throughout the day and sprinkled our conversations with just enough zingers that the rest of us shared glances and raised eyebrows. He seems to follow a conversation for a while and then follows it up with something outlandish. It leaves you wondering where the hell did that came from? For instance:
While passing through Rockaway Beach, Don pointed out the new airport to the kids. There is no such airport.

Don told us a retired nurse helped him get out of his seat at the theater when the production was over. A woman did help, but I never heard her tell Don she was a nurse or that she was retired.

Tells everyone he enjoyed walking around the lake earlier in the day with me. Yeah, that never happened.

Don quickly responded to the question about the lake’s location, saying, “It is located right next to or behind the strip mall.” There is no lake with a trail or a strip mall in our neighborhood.

Don wants to go pick up his golf cart after we told him his golf clubs are in Mexico. He has never owned a golf cart and couldn’t drive one now if he did.

We asked Don if he knew the way out of the restaurant so he could start heading in that direction to get to the car. He claimed he did, yet started walking in the opposite direction.

We found out from another family member that Kevin wanted to buy Don’s truck. Don advises everybody that many of his trucks showed up in other people’s yards or garages. Without a doubt, this never happened.

Don suggests Jorge join him in a partnership to sell used vehicles. Oh boy! There’s so many things wrong with that proposal, we don’t even know where to start.

Note to Self: Last year, such comments by Don usually contained partial fact surrounded by cloudy details that didn’t ring true. Now, it has become pure fiction.
