We re-homed two male kittens here a year ago to be companions for Don. His request, not mine. Yeah, that worked out well. They often bring a variety of extra critters into the house and turn them loose to chase. That’s the ones that are lucky enough to still be alive. The current count on rescued critters is 2 bats, 2 birds, 3 chipmunks, and 2 rather large mice trapped in my washing machine. How did that happen?
Apparently, before mice found themselves about to launch on a swimming pool adventure, they lived behind my refrigerator in the kitchen. Desperate for water, they chewed through the water tubing that delivers water to the refrigerator ice maker and filtered water tap. Unbeknownst to me, the excess water spraying out underneath the refrigerator penetrated the flooring and was draining into the light fixture below in the laundry room. I turn off the water source and start clean up.
Kevin and Greg arrive for the weekend, and we dismantle the backside of the refrigerator. That’s where we find a damaged blue water tube. We call 3-4 locations in the nearby geographical area for replacement tubing. Nobody has any and one appliance store closed earlier than normal for the weekend. Typical problems in our community.
Sunday morning, Don wants bacon and eggs, so I decide on a big breakfast for a Sunday send off for the boys. Sausage, eggs, bacon, toast, and coffee. I prep, I cook, and I deliver a nice full plate of breakfast to Don. I returned to the kitchen for the special cup of coffee he wants. That includes strong coffee that he goes to great lengths to tame with oodles of cream and sugar. I always top it off with a big dollop of Cool Whip.
Kristy: Here you go. Coffee that is as good as from an expensive coffee shack down the road.
Don: Is this real whip cream?
