Philanthropy

Don: I need some scotch tape.

Kristy: We have clear strapping tape in the junk drawer. I can get you some. What do you need it for?

Don: To tape an envelope shut.

I give him a small piece of tape and he returns to his room where I find him, indeed, taping a regular business-size envelope shut.

Kristy: That envelope looks kinda puffy. What are you mailing?

Don: Glasses.

Kristy: What glasses? Whose glasses? Not your good prescription glasses?

Don: They are broken.

He hands me the sealed envelope and goes about his business of packing and unpacking his backpack. I turn over the envelope and it’s addressed to the OSU Foundation.

Has he suddenly become a philanthropist donating broken eye glasses that used to be worth about $1000?

Note to Self: First question out of his mouth tomorrow will be, “where are my glasses”?
