The following conversation is not only far out in left field, but it also has strangely good timing. National Pearl Harbor Day is just days away.
Don: Do you remember being stationed in Hawaii?
Kristy: I have been to Hawaii 3 times and did not enjoy any of those vacations. I have no plans to go back. When were you ever stationed there?
Don: With the National Guard.
Kristy: When?
Don: During World War 2.
Kristy: You weren’t even born until after World War 2. Are you talking about your parents?
Don: No. It was the beginning of filming of the bombings.
Kristy: Are you talking about the black & white films we saw on TV years after the fact?
Don: Yeah, those.
Kristy: What part of Hawaii?
Don: Right outside of Pearl Harbor.
Kristy: Were there bomb shelters?
Don: No, but every morning, the bombing started, and it was loud.
Kristy: Must have been very scary. Where did you go when the bombing started?
Don: Very far away.
Note to Self: Yeah, all the way to December 22, 1950.
