MyWork vs.Your Work

Don’s long-time friend, Bruce, dropped by to collect our empty cans and bottles. He came in to visit with us and it went well for about 1/2 hr.

Don: I need to go to work.

Kristy: There’s no work for you today?

Bruce: Where do you work?

Don: Over in White City.

Bruce – Long-time friend and previous neighbor of Don

Kristy: Are you talking about somewhere near Lake of the Woods?

Don: Yeah.

Kristy: We are in Rockaway on the Pacific Ocean, not a lake.

Don: It’s nearby.

We change the subject and chitchat about something else for a few minutes. Then Don tries to rise from the couch.

Kristy: Are you ready for a nap?

Don: I’m hungry. I will eat and then go to work.

Bruce: How can you work when you are struggling just to get off the couch?

Kristy: Let’s get you some lunch. What do you want?

Bruce leaves, and Don eventually rises from the couch and starts heading for the kitchen. The kitchen is an off-limits area for him now, so, of course, that’s why he gravitates to the kitchen every moment he thinks he can get away with it.

Kristy: Do you want a toasted cheese, ham, or peanut butter sandwich?

Don: I will eat at work. I need to get a ride.

Kristy: Where do you work?

Don: At the local lumber mill. Same place as you do.

Kristy: They called and said they don’t need you today.

Don: What about you?

Kristy: My full-time job is taking care of you. I also have a part-time job operating a bed-and-breakfast. All my work is here at this house.

Don: No, no, that doesn’t count. When do you plan to finish your book?

Kristy: When will you finish thinking that you are going to work?

Doesn’t count? DOESN’T COUNT!
