Besides rain in my laundry room and a refrigerator leaking water from the ice maker tubing, the smoke detectors go on strike and start that annoying beeping in two different rooms. My house has gone bonkers, and it’s only 9:00 am.
Mice bit through the kitchen refrigerator water tubing. The cats keep bringing mice in the house as toys. I guess the mice were extra thirsty after all that running around evading predators. They all think the 2 no-kill mouse traps are also toys. The traps have caught nothing. I have drop-kicked them out the front door. I have to admit the 2 mice found in my washing machine were too big for the traps. Yes, I had to capture them by the Crocodile Hunter method of throwing a little towel over their eyes and lifting them to safety. Crikey!
Water started seeping through the flooring under the refrigerator into the light fixture below in the laundry room. Just when I feel I’ve got every towel in the house on the payroll, a smoke alarm goes off on the ground floor. Before that is remedied, another smoke alarm goes off in the Don chamber. The challenge in Don’s room is the ceiling is higher than standard because it’s pitched in an inverted V and paneled. I had to use a step-stool and mini-refrigerator to reach the smoke detector to pull out the battery and install a new one. That was an accident just waiting to happen. Don is sitting by, watching the struggle. While I’m on top of the mini-refrigerator and stretching on my tiptoes to reach the smoke detector, Don attempts to help. I turn around to step down.
Kristy: Where’s the step-stool?
Don: I moved it.
Kristy: Why?
Don: It was blocking my path to the bathroom.
Not funny!
Note to Self: OK, maybe a little bit funny.
