Happy 74 Birthday

Hunter stopped in for a couple of days to visit his dad for his 74th birthday. We got updates on Hunter’s back and leg issues that are affecting his ability to walk under his own power without pain. This morning Don and I have a conversation.

Don: Have you spoken with Hunter recently?

Kristy: Nonstop for the last 2 days. Why?

Don: I think he is outside guarding the house.

Kristy: He’s still in bed.

Don: I saw him running down the street.

Kristy: He can barely walk, let alone run. I’m sure it was somebody else. There are a lot of people in the rental house across the street.

Don: I think I’m going to go over and stay there at that house across the street. That house has fewer reasons for me to fall. Where are my shoes?

Kristy: You stumbled over your own 2 feet and ricocheted off the wall last night on your way to bed. How is going to the neighbor’s house going to help with that?

Don: I will take my cane. It’s red, just like Christmas.

Kristy: You will need more than a red cane to lift your next face plant off the wall or floor.

Note to Self: He does kinda look like a disheveled, rosy-cheeked, white-bearded and disoriented Santa Claus. Maybe the neighbors will take him in. Most excellent idea.
